Doctor by the Universidad de La Laguna with the thesis La contextualización arqueológica y epigráfica de las inscripciones líbico-bereberes de el hierro 2021. Supervised by Dr. Antonio Tejera Gaspar, Dr. Juan Francisco Navarro Mederos.
Irma Mora Aguiar holds a degree in History (University of La Laguna), a Master's in Archaeology (University of La Laguna–University of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria), and a PhD from the inter-university program (ULL-ULPGC) "Territory and Society: Historical Evolution in a Tricontinental Space (Africa, America, and Europe)." She is currently a professor specializing in Geography and History in the Master's Program for Teacher Training at the European University of the Canary Islands and in Social Sciences Didactics at the University of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria. Additionally, she is a founding member and current co-director of the Cultural Chair of Berber Studies at the University of La Laguna. Her research focuses on the Ancient History of the Canary Islands and North Africa, particularly on Libyco-Berber epigraphy. Her doctoral thesis, titled "The Archaeological and Epigraphic Contextualization of the Libyco-Berber Inscriptions of El Hierro," received the Doctoral Extraordinary Award in the Arts and Humanities category (academic year 2021–2022). Based on this work, she proposes a new graphic classification of the Libyco-Berber family, including the alphabetic modality that arrived in the Canary Islands after the turn of the era. Furthermore, it identifies a possible origin for the Archipelago's first settlers and presents a transcription hypothesis for this alphabet based on the morphophonological analysis of the inscriptions.
