I have a degree in International Management of Tourism and Leisure Companies from the European University of Madrid, a Master's degree in Hotel Management and Administration from the Polytechnic University of Madrid, a Certificate of Pedagogical Aptitude from the Alfonso X El Sabio University and a Master's degree in Business Management and Administration from the European Business School. Throughout my academic and professional career of more than 20 years, I have developed a deep interest in Tourism, both from the professional and academic fields, as well as in the planning and management of tourist destinations. My work experience, currently as Administrator at Nueva Isla Baja, S.A., the company that owns the Hotel Hacienda del Conde Meliá Collection Buenavista Golf & Spa Resort 5*GL, where in addition to being the interlocutor between the company and the hotel operator, I am in charge of developing and energizing tourist activities and products; and previously working both nationally and internationally, for companies such as Meliá Hotels International, Gran Hotel Bahía del Duque Resort, Oasis Hotels & Resorts in Mexico; has given me a solid understanding of the dynamics between tourists and host communities, as well as the importance of implementing tourism policies that promote social and economic well-being. My experience as a university professor began eleven years ago as a professor for two and a half years at the Iriarte University School of Tourism, attached to the University of La Laguna. For eight years, I have been a professor in the social sciences department of the European University of the Canary Islands, in the Degree in Tourism and in the International Master of Hotel Management and Administration. My experience in planning and management of tourist destinations begins as a member of the drafting team, as a technical tourism advisor, of the "Modernization, Improvement and Increase of Competitiveness Plan" (PMMIC) for the Consortium for the Tourism Rehabilitation of Puerto de la Cruz, a document in which an interdisciplinary team of researchers from the University of La Laguna actively participates. As a result of this collaboration, I have participated in several projects of ReinvenTUR: Observatory of Tourism Renewal, as an active professional in the tourism sector. I am currently collaborating in the drafting of the PMM2, also as a technical tourism advisor. On the other hand, during the master's degree, I carried out research for my thesis entitled "Foreign Promotion, Tenerife's Weapon", in which I analysed the functioning of the Tenerife Foreign Promotion Society, which was a pioneer in public-private collaboration for the promotion of tourist destinations, in this case the island of Tenerife, creating products and establishing synergies in the sector. This work not only strengthened my capacity for critical and methodological analysis, but also awakened my interest in research and my desire to continue in the future with what I now want to begin, which is the Doctorate in Tourism.
