Abstract

Neuropsychology is a scientific discipline that studies the relationship between brain and behavior, however, throughout its history and development it has undergone a series of modifications that have made it go through different stages. It has been possible to find authors who defended the concentration of specific cognitive functions in specific areas, while others defended the opposite phenomenon, that is, the global work of the brain to start a specific cognitive function. On the other hand, there were authors who defended that both phenomena were not incompatible, but that they were strictly necessary, that is, there are functions that are located but, at the same time, they need global coordination to operate correctly. It is essential to know the historical aspects and main authors of this branch of Psychology, because it constitutes an important part within that great house that is Neuroscience, due to the fact that it is one of the most active disciplines in clinical practice and in research.
