Resumen

This paper presents an analysis of the expectations of a group of parents who participate in a psychoeducational intervention program, Integral Program for High Capacity. The aim of the study is to analyze parental expectations before the start of the program. The participants are the parents who partake of the program. The data collected corresponds to the sixth, seventh and eighth edition of the Integral Program for High Capacity which was developed in 2008/2009, 2009/2010 and 2010/2011. The parents expect to improve their knowledge about high abilities and their skills. The results shows that participants thinks they have a passive role in the intervention. There are not differences between mothers and fathers on their expectations and motivations; but there are differences in the sections about “Contributions” and “Aspects of Success.” There are some conclusions about the parents previous expectations and their relevance to the objectives of the intervention, in order to make appropriate recommendations on the Program.
